     And everyone knows that marketing reps are MUCH more qualified to 
     make technical claims than IS professionals. After all, Microsoft 
     marketing teams have practically re-written the book on what is 
     (and is not) possible.... ;)

I know that I don't want to restore over the V4R1 QUSRSYS and QGPL with the 
QUSRSYS from V4R2-- I would have to pull out the user files selectively 
instead.  Or do you mean that the likelihood of getting all of the right 
stuff and only the right stuff from the tapes is so small that it's a very 
slim chance that it could be done successfully?
     
If I can convince the customer that this is just a bad idea I will, but 
the marketing rep told them it could be done, and it becomes my job to make 
him correct--when possible.
