I remember, boy was our Controller ever _HACKED_!  That upgrade cost a small
fortune and took about 15 minutes to install.  Had the same situation on
another platform at the time using Western Dynex drives in a similar
configuration (except they were 3/3 upgraded to 6/6).  Snip a wire on the disk
controller and tell the disks that they're bigger, no restore involved but
another apoplectic Controller was...
