I don't know of an easy workaround, nor anywhere in the manuals that it
talks about it, but I can tell you what I've observed, and what I've
done to fix it:

I believe that what is happening is this - say I pass 3 parameters 10a,
40a and 10a.

'123456    '
'abcdefghijk                             '
'eieio     '

What you get (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) is this:

'123456    '
'abcdefghijk                     eieio'
'eieio     '

What I've done to fix this is to append a string terminator character
such as a carrot (^) or some such rarely used character.  The called
program looks for the carrot and pulls out just what is to the left of
it.

Not a very elegant solution, but I can count on one hand the number of
times I've run into this problem.
