I disagree with this. It may only save a few lines of code here, maybe a 
few there.
But, when you are working with large programs, it saves a lot of lines of 
code.
Saving a few lines of code is not my argument. I beleive it would make the 
code
easier to read, hence easier to understand and maintain later. I do this 
for my job
everyday. I am starting to get more and more converts to RPG/LE. It's slow, 
but
I am making headway. The reason that I am, is because RPG/LE is easier to
read and is much faster to code in once you learn. After I get them hooked, 
we
start on procedures, service programs, activation groups, etc. I know that 
Java and
the web are the hot new topics, but the people coding RPG need things to 
help them
do the everyday stuff, like keeping them ole legacy apps working. I know 
it's boring,
but management still harps on it.



I tend to agree with David regarding the proposals for
%RANGE and %LIST.  At best, these would only save a few
lines of code in a program.
