Thanks to everyone for all of the ideas about the System Time routine!
As soon as I get some feedback from the folks who have offered to test
the software I'll make it available free on our web site. 

At its core the code will be pretty much as provided by the government
on their FTP site. I've added routines to replace functions that the
AS/400 does not support, such as gettimeofday(). The final version will
also inhibit informational messages that go to QPRINT if run in batch,
or the terminal if run interactively.

The code will not change the AS/400 clock as shipped. It will call a
user exit program (a CL program with source provided) and you can modify
it to change the system clock if you wish. A simple command interface
will also be provided.

I'll post a message here when the code is ready with instructions on how
to get it.
