Booth,

No flames here, good to find another OS/2 user on the list!

The PCOM2 in Merlin is good only for TCP/IP connection I believe
(TN5250 and TN3270). No file transfer and if I remember little in the
way of keyboard re-map or macro support. (I use PCOM 4.1 for OS/2)
This gives me ASYNC, SNA, and LAN support plus macros, keyboard remap
etc.

For file transfer and such you can use OS/2's built in FTP, or you can
get the AS/400 side for PCOM downloads. You can also load either the 16
or 32bit Client Access client. If all you intend to use is the download
piece I recommend the 16bit piece as the 32bit stuff is HUGE (although
much more functional). I can't remember if the 16bit stuff requires
Comm Mgr or not but it seems that it does. Neither will run over Native
TCP/IP but the 32bit stuff will do Anynet. The 16bit stuff has a
terrible set of colors that makes it real tough to read some screens but
it does up & downloads pretty well.

  HTH
