The answer is yes. Essentially the 2644 is a H/P (High Performance)
version of the 2622. The 2644 supports all 34xx devices including the
3422, 3430, 3480, 3490, 3490E, and 3494. According to the system handbook
the 2644 requires 1 i/o slot and a Serpentine Cable (#9980) is required for
all supported devices except the 3490E-CXX...in other words the 3430 also
requires the cable.....

Does anyone know if the 2644 and 2622 tape IOP cards are
interchangeable regarding a 3430 reel tape drive? The reason I'm
asking is that we need to connect a 3430 to an AS/400 Model 500 but we
only have a 2644 card available.

Initially, the 3430 was attached to a D/35 system through one of two
2622 cards. Attached to the second card was a 3490E D42 tape
cartridge drive that was also connected to the 500 via 2644 card. But
I forgot to pull the 2622 card when we removed the D/35 so now I'm up...

Since the 3490E was previously attached to the D/35 using the 2622
card and is currently attached to the 500 using a 2644 card am I
correct in assuming they are compatible? Thanks in advance for any help.
