  • Subject: COMMON and non-IBM vendors change of life
  • From: Jerome Draper <jdraper@xxxxxxx>

COMMON has changed the way they handle non-IBM vendors now. In a way it's
an embrace and apropos but it's pricy. I remember when the first non-IBM
expo happened in Anaheim and vendors were in another ballroom from IBM --
kinda the bastard child in the middle ages. Now, of course, everybody's in
the same room. This time there are new opportunities at COMMON with
several sponsorships available. COMMON has been sponsored every year by
IBM and now there are addtional sponsorships available to other vendors.
I'm sure that COMMON needs to increase revenue in order to keep COMMON
going. A sampling:

Monday expo passport to prizes $30,000.
Welcome Reception $20,000.
Coffee Break $3,500. each
Badge Lanyard $10,000.
Vendor demonstrations $ 2,000. each
Vendor customer appreciation night $ 750. to $3,000 (depends on
room size)
Expo booth (10x10) $ 2,750.

Es la vida...sign of the times I guess. Everything costs money.
