The problem is not just the software on the AS/400.  There are a variety of
packages available and some vendors are willing to provide a fixed price bid
based on the number of lines of code.  The problem is also embedded systems.

I did a seminar a while back during which one of the attendees said his
company had completely fixed all of their code.  They came in one weekend to
test and set all clocks ahead.  Everything worked fine until they went out
on break.  They could not get back in the building because the security
system said their pass cards were expired.

Another study I saw indicated that some 40% of all bios dated 1997 failed
Y2K tests.

It's not just your AS/400, it's anything that can keep track of time.  If
all you do is fix your AS/400 code, you are doing your companies a disservice.
