You haven't provided enough information to answer this properly.

What processor did you have in the 53S (2154/2155/2156/2157) ?
What processor do you have in the S30 (2257/2258/2259/2260) ?
How many disk arms, and what type, on the 53S ?
How many disk arms, and what type, on the S30 ?

Presumably it was a straight hardware upgrade/swap (ie. no new
applications added at the same time) ?
The processor could be 5,000 times faster, and it wouldn't help if your
applications were I/O bound (DASD utilization).

Something to check anyway:
Is the S30 on the latest PTF cum level (C8195420) and did you verify it
installed correctly and you're IPL'd from the 'B' side ?
