A procedure can only return a single value, but there is no reason why this
can't effectively be a data structure, or a pointer to one.  The alternative is
to have the procedure modify the parameters just the same way that a called
program modifies the parms.  The only restriction that this imposes is that the
parameters cannot be specified with the keywords CONST or VALUE with the
resulting loss in function.
