Still no good.  The user needs the job to have the msgq in something
other than *HOLD.  Besides, I do not know if or when a user may launch
more than one session.  So the first job has the lock.  I have basically
assumed that by the time I have a work around for this annoyance, the
users will have stopped calling the help desk.

Pete and everyone who has responded, thanks for all the help with this. 
More proof that this list works.
