An excerpt from the NewsWire/400 I got yesterday regarding V4R3
rumors:

>>>>>>>>
V4R3 HEADS UP: ADMINISTRATION AND SECURITY ENHANCEMENTS
Word on the street is that V4R3's stability is excellent-which it
needs to be if IBM expects its customers to follow along with
more-frequent OS/400 releases. Here are a few enhancements we've been
able to track down on the administration and security features you
might be interested in:
Administration Enhancements-
* IOP load balancing, which lets you distribute TCP/IP traffic of
network applications across multiple IOPs
* Network Address Translation, which lets you map IP addresses on one
network to a different set for another network
* The ability to filter IP packets on the basis of data in the
IP datagram
<<<<<<<<

An IBM'r would probably get fired for posting something like this.
Good thing I don't work for IBM!

For what it's worth, although OS/400 does NOT, I repeat NOT support
NAT at this
time, in some bright, unspecified, future day AS/400 might support
NAT.

To put it another way, if IBM actually ships another release after
V4R2 ... and
I'm NOT saying IBM WILL do this ... but if they did then possibly it
would (1)
be called V4R3 and (2) would contain support for NAT. If this were to
actually
happen then you would be able to have the AS/400 connect to the ISP
and the PC
could connect to the Internet via the AS/400's connection to the ISP.

Usual caveats: This is just specualation and talk, not a commitment.
Wait for
an official announcement from IBM of release availablity and function
before
actually planning on release contents. You can't trust what I say.
Yada, yada.
Do not fold, spindle, mutilate, et cetera. <g>

Realize this doesn't help with your immediate problem. But it's
something to
mull over while showering in the morning.
