good, and if it does not, it is of no use. Since I am a (reluctant) W95 user so
I can get access to my AS/400, I am well used to a GUI interface. But pointing
and clicking is a very slow process compared with the 5250 environment and, if I
am not wanting to retrieve images from my AS/400 and am not in front of a GUI
prejudiced audience, then I will always use Client Access. People do not always
understand that being busy is not the same thing as being productive. >

AMEN to that.... There are things I LOVE about GUI and things I hate; ditto for
"green screen" stuff... I have managed to save a TON of time re-keying things by
using C/A and the cut and paste function to do different things, but if
"pounding
out the code" , GUI just slows things down...

Along these same lines is voice recognition. First let me state that I think the
advances are GREAT and they offer incredible opportunities in the right
situations and applications. But every time I hear someone say "...and we will
able to TALK to our computers !"... If you work in a big company, with the
"pool
of desks" or even the Dilbert cubicles, try to envision everyone talking to
their
computers. Even in smaller companies you have the same situation. It's noisy
enough as it is ! I know you can where head sets with mic's, etc. but I really
doubt that it will have mass usage. I can see it now:

Mr. Senior Exec's Administrative Assistant ("talking" the memo from her boss):
"And plant blah, blah, blah, will be closed permanently on December 23rd. This
information should be closely guarded."

And 5 minutes latter, EVERYONE in the place knows what is going to happen. I
KNOW
this is an exaggerated example and that this same things happens now - it just
takes 15 minutes... <G>

But imagine 20 people sitting row after row of desks, blabbing at their
computers
:-)
