We have two as/400's using a 3590E tape drive.  We do have an attachment
on the tape drive that allows us to access it from both.  However, only
one AS/400 at a time.  We vary it on one a and off on the other.

                This is quite common in the UNIX world with NFS (Network
File System), and I know
                that the AS/400 supports some version of NFS, I just
don't know if it has
                progressed to supporting tape NFS mounts.

                I'd poke around in the IFS documentation, and see how
broad NFS support is.
