  • Subject: Read Email from RPG Program

I have email setup on an As/400. I can receive email from the internet and
view it using Justmail or a POP client.

We receive a text file as an attachment to an email. I would like to run an
RPG program that can read that attachment and insert it into our database
file.

I have used QRYDST to get my docid, then RCVDST to get the doc. I have
tried sending the RCVDST to a file and to a folder. If I send to a folder,
I then used RTVDOC to get the message into a physical file. Problem is
that the data from the message is there but not in fixed length records. I
can see the CR-LF's, but I don't want to have to code and around that stuff.

How can I get the message into a fixed length flat file that I can use in
RPG?

CPYFRMSTMF has the option to do this, but I have tried that when receiving
mail to a userId setup as a Pop3 user (system message store), and that
looked even worse.

OF course, I thought this was a no-brainer and have promised my customer
this function right away. Keep in mind that the world may end if I don't
get this solved.
