Tim,

Yes, you're correct. All you need to do is strsrvjob on another job and
then you can debug that job as if it was your own. You will, of course,
need sufficient authority to do this (*USE on the other job's user
profile, I think).

You can strdbg a program that the user is about to begin or one that is
already running. Also, if you submit a job with hold on jobq as yes and
then strsrvjob on the job, release it, and you will get a chance to
strdbg on the job before it actually starts to run.

This command is a lifesaver when trying to debug a failed batch job, or
trying to find out where is a long running batch job you are. You can
reach inside the submitted job and look at the various variables and see
why a given program failed or what customer number you are currently
processing.

Come to think of it, I don't recall and I can't check (I'm on the train)
but will dsppgmvar show the LDA? If so, this is another way to look at
another job's LDA in answer to a previous thread.

Subject: StrSrvJob?

Hello all,
I have been using my Softcopy CD to research the STRSRVJOB command, it
seems quite helpful. Am I correct in the assumption that I can have a
user in an interactive job or even a batch job, then all I would have to
do is enter the STRSRVJOB command at my screen for that specific users
job then STRDBG on the particular program they were about to begin
running? Is this correct? And how have you folks found this command to
be most useful?
Thanks very much in advance!
