8. etc,etc,etc (None of the above in any particular order)
9. Native SDLC dial support using 5294/5394/54

To connect to 390 use 3270 emulation(standard on ALL 400's)

Multi-user connections can be handled with:

1. Multi comm lines
2. multiuser software from any number of vendors that runs on
   a direct attachd pc (gateway connection)
3. Communications Controller front end (VERY EXPENSIVE)
4. Line sharing devices that split modems(black box type solution)
5. You can use a MUX (get out the old credit card)

All of the above have MANY different variants and costs are all
over the entire spectrum....

I'm sure I left out a few but these are most common.... 

Of course you'll have to decide between sync or async.....

It will depend on what YOU WANT to do and HOW MUCH you want to
spend.....
