  • Subject: Retrieving a Pointer to an Object
  • From: Bill Robins <brobins@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I want to be able to obtain a pointer to an object. (Specifically, I am tearing
apart
QRYDFN's. Yes, I have seen and used the MI RTVQRYF, but I would like to put
the bulk
of the logic in the RPG program since I don't know MI well enough).

I know I have the MI written correctly to get the system pointer, but I don't
know
how to pass it back to the calling RPG program so it can use it. Could someone
possibly point me to an example? Also, is there a table anywhere that shows the
translation between object type and the machine object identifier? I know a
library
is x'0401' and a query definition is x'1911', but I would like to know it all.

Your help is appreciated.

Bill
