Hi, Ken!  Que pasa?

I don't know why this would be true, and I can say that we've had ALL of our
shared pools set to *CALC since V2R3 and have never seen any problems from
it.  I spoke to one of the Storage Management developers about it at COMMON
several years ago (in company with Richard Jackson), and got the impression
that even at V2 there was no reason why it would ever hurt performance or
anything else.  When we turned it on, it even appeared to improve printing
performance - less faulting in *SPOOL, fewer hesitations at the printers
waiting for data from the /400.  It sounds to me like you picked up some
high-caution advice from someone who doesn't trust the system to manage
itself well.
