How many shops actually use C on the AS/400? I would think that there are some
but aren't most shops deeply rooted in RPG or COBOL?

The two terms RPG and AS/400 seem to have been inextricably linked - like
mainframe and Cobol - and therein lies the problem. Unless we take it upon
ourselves to "modernize" the image of the AS/400 to up and coming
programers then it's probably doomed. RPG may have been our legacy but it
certainly shouldn't - and won't - be our future. So why not give a 'C'
course on the AS/400? That way we can teach familiarity with the machine
and the operating system - far more valuable commodities than some
rudimentary RPG.
