     what about the Ultimedia extensions for CA. I've never looked to 
     closely at what these APIs actually do, but I understand that it's 
     aimed at imaging apps. Might there be anything in there?

Short answer: No.
     
Long answer:
     
CA uses the straight 5250 stream. The DDS HTML keyword is processed only 
when using workstation gateway, which intercepts the 5250 stream, converts 
it to HTML, and inserts the code we set in HTML in DDS.
     
Of course, file transfer to an HTML table has been added in v3r1m3, so who 
knows?
