Notice to all user group board members and LUG liasons....

Effective the afternoon of Day 3 of common a list server was created for
discussion between user group board members and liasons.  This server is
intended as a mechanism for ANY AND ALL board members and liasonal persons
to have a communications mechanism between ourselves.

I expect it to be populated with emails by middle of the week and
functional...depending on how much catchup I have to do after getting
back.

It is a closed list to public posting out side of the list membership.

Those who are board members or liasons are urged to send me your email and
which users group and position you hold, along with voice, fax and postal
address.

Folks serving on boards regularly have needs for items and problem
solving.  This varies from everything to program speakers, venues,
formats, marketing, education, technical conferences,  etc...  It is the
desire of this list server to help board members to help each other
address these needs, problems and concerns.

The official language will be English, but the list is open to all boards
world wide in any language that their concerns and needs can be best
expressed.   I know that there will be people on the list which know
English, Spanish and French.  My hope is that the other languages will
shortly have representation for translation or direct addressing. 

In recent history one of the biggest problems facing boards is COMMON
itself.   Common at the LUG lunch in San Antonio had promised to address
a concerns list, but regretibly, and as expected, by the N/O meeting had
made no progress.  Actually, both staff and board had done pitifully
little since the last meeting, were TOTALLY unprepared for this meeting -
to the point of not even having their notes and action items lists from
LAST meeting. It really gave one serious concern as to the calibre of
Common staff and board.  But they now have hired more staff and going
through their internal rebuild, so perhaps there's hope for the future.
