I usually ask some questions like:

What sort of disk protection can be used on an AS/400? Can you explain the
types
and differences between them?

Detail your DRP experience.

What sort of backup strategies have you used in the past? Which was the best
and
why?

I usually cover a variety of topics: security, DRP, backup and recovery, sys
ops, SQL/CL/Query etc etc. It all depends on exactly what sort of operator or
administrator you want. I know plenty of operators who spend the whole day in
front of the console answering printer messages.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off
the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the
Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in
rain. Time to die - Roy Batty, Bladerunner.
