well.... ok.

1) make these two commands on your STRPDM commands list:
      I1    ? strisdb pgm(&n) updprod(*yes) invpgm(*cmd)  
      I2    strisdb pgm(&N) updprod(*yes)                 

2) write an RPGLE black box program that takes 6 digit dates, verifies
them, converts them, and understands them.  I have essentially 5 parms in
mine: PARM1 = 10 characters, PARM2 = 6 digits, PARM3 = Format of date, in,
PARM4 = Format of date desired, PARM5 = date is wrong: reason codes given.

3) Change nothing on the screens if possible, especially if they are
program described screens.  

4) Get a decision from someone on one 6-digit date format for all
applications.

5) Use 8 digit dates on 100-year stuff like date of birth, expiration
dates, etc.  Windowing that stuff is almost impossible I think.

6) make a standard sub routine for date handling, including the calling of
your new black box program.

7) set up a protected test enviroment.
