Mark,

The file we're trying to update is the QATMSMTPA file which holds the
system SMTP aliases. Phil Hall has been able to explain why or program
won't and Neil Palmer has given me a possible solution using the CVTNAMSMTP
command which I currently looking at. If you've got any other thoughts 
though I'm listening...
