  • Subject: sys/36 to 236

I am trying to migrate my sys/36 apps, written in RPG II, to a newer
machine. I had looked at an as/400 but found that the conversion would
have been problematic. Someone has offered a 236 with software for $3800.
They told me that the conversion would be a no brainer and that it could be
done with a data migration link. It is running SSP 7.2. I am wondering if
anyone has had experience with this kind of conversion? Was it straight
forward and gave good results? is SSP 7.2 year 2000 ready? Are there date
field conversion apps out that will run on the 236 for our sys/36 apps? Is
the 236 still being supported by IBM?

Thanks,

Roy Schnauss
