Hi--

Have personally witnessed a powered up keyboard plug insertion cause PC 
failure and eventual motherboard replacement. Was not a happy situation. 
:) Because of this, my desktop and notebooks are always powered off when 
making connections. Perhaps a keyboard A/B box would be a safer way to 
provide the same solution?
