  It used to be $750 per developer seat for Code/400  _or_  VARPG, and $950 per
developer seat for both.  There is also a very generous evaluation policy from
IBM, so if you are configuring a sample development machine you could install
Code/400 and see if you like it.

So far as learning how to use it:  there is a learning curve, but it is very
gradual, so a user is working at green screen speed before lunch and is making
money by the end of the day.  Just being able to work in three windows in three
parts of the same program at one time is worth the price of the program.
