Well, I don't know how it went in other parts of the country, but in Las
Vegas IBM not only sent out product announcement stuff, they also invited
every MIS manager in for demonstrations of the product.

I went to some of the demos, even before CODE/400 was shipping, and
everyone who bothered to respond was wowed by the presentation.

Every one of us who saw the presentation of Code/400 wanted it. But two
years later I was the only one I knew who had actually started to use it.

The bottom line here is that although IBM _DOES_ promote these products,
AS/400 shops don't care. If they are not forced to use it, they won't.

I felt that using Code/400 and the Code/400 debugger saved my guys
(maintenance programmers) about 1 day a week. 20% productivity gain. If
that sounds like I'm blowing smoke, try it sometime and see what I mean.

So, back to the quote above, IBM did notify each and every owner of an
AS/400. Many times. Plus there has been the number of comments here on this
list. I for one have always promoted these tools.

Show of hands, how many have acted on learning this? How many are now
interested enough to act? Right. That's the problem.

How often can you afford to be unexpectedly out of business?
Get an AS/400.
