     I think what you're wanting is SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). 
     You could probably get started with:

Does anybody have any experience using Email via OV/400...
     
Where does one start ???
     
What are the best manuals that discuss this ???
     
My customer has OV/400 and now wants to have access to the web 
email capabilities... I have read about AnyMail/400 but there 
also appears to be a capability just using OV/400 and the proper
setup of new server software that comes with V3R2 & V3R7 to access 
the web...
     
Do you need a dedicated line to an ISP or would a normal dial 
connection to a provider such as AT&T work just as well ?????
     
They DO NOT want any web surfing, just the email function....
