You don't say which client you are running.  Is it CA/400?  

Anyway, if it's not Synapse WinAPPC then your problem might be the client.
If so, then go to the Synapse www.synapse.com web site and download their
WinAPPC demo.  It has the WinTran file transfer program in it.  If it works,
then it must be the client and you can act accordingly.  At least you will know.

BTW, the WinAPPC-32 transfers data 6 times faster than CA/400-95/NT.
