If your 150 has a twinax controller (the Server models don't have one as
base) then a dumb terminal or anything that does plain 5250 twinax
emulation can serve as the console on Port 0 Address 0. It' obviously
can't be any emulator that requires an APPC connection as that isn't
active when the system is in restricted state. The 'Client Access
Console' is a feature that let's you use a PC as the console. It
connects via a cable to the comm port on the 150 and is basically dumb
old 5250 emulation.

Subject: System Console on a Model 150

I have some questions about the Model 150's system console. I
think
that I may be confusing it with the portable models.

What is the system console on a Model 150? Does it *have* to be
a PC
or can you hook a terminal to it and call that terminal your
system
console? If it has to be a PC, can it be a Think Pad connected
via a
token ring adapter? If it has to be a PC, is there any special
considerations that should be known for Client Access?

Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.

        Thanks,
        Mark Welte
