You may also want to look at Bruce Schneier's Applied Cryptography II.
It's got C and pseudocode for most of the major crypto algorithms
(including DES) out there.  Interesting thing is, the BOOK is NOT covered
under the munitions act and can be exported....the CDROM CAN'T.  Go
figure.  Perhaps the folks at the State Dept. don't think that people
outside of the US can type...:)
