Adding SMTP Name from CGI/Net.Data

Has anyone got any ideas on how an SMTP name can be picked from a form and 
added to the system directory and the SMTP table automatically through 
Cgi/Net.Data. I can't see an ADDSMTPNAM command do I need to work with the 
file directly? Is there an API ? I want to send an automated response out 
to the user.
