Have you compared the modem settings of the two Hayes 28.8 Optima modems
?
Is there a possible line quality/interference problem with the telephone
line at your AS/400 end ?
Is there a knot in your comm cable to the AS/400 ? :-)

Have used a software, PSI, to dial into our AS/400 through an
ASCII
workstation controller. We have a model 300. The modem that
resides on
the AS/400 is a Hayes 28.8 Optima. Connection is made without
problems.
But when signing on the AS/400, screens return line by line.

Same software is used on same PC to dial into another AS/400
through an
ASCII workstation controller. It is a model 310. The modem
that
resides on that AS/400 is a Hayes 28.8 Optima. Connection is
made
without problems. But when signing onto that AS/400, SCREENS
ARE NOT
PAINTED AND RESPONSE TIME IS ALMOST LIKE SITTING IN THE OFFICE.

The second AS/400 is not mine. The first is. Both are local
connections. Can anyone give me any educated guesses as to the
reasons
for the differing response of the screens? The remote device on
the
first AS/400 was configured by copying the device on the second
        AS/400--3197 device.

Thanks for your input. Camille Brown
