Assuming you can't afford a separate AS/400 for testing, you could try
running a SAVSTG on a Friday night, go in and play on Saturday, and run
a restore from the SAVSTG tapes on Sunday.

This is NOT a good idea. It could cause software keys to
expire, among other
nastiness. There are many many things that could be screwed up
by changing the
system date even if all of the software is Y2K safe. I think
the AS/400 Y2K
web pages have information on what to beware of. The problems
this causes are
one of the reasons we recommend doing your Y2K work (or at least
the testing)
on a separate machine - that way you can do a scratch install
afterwards!
