Yes, the AS/400 can protect the entire network. You need an entire IPCS
card dedicated to the firewall. You can find more information about this
at http://as400bks.rochester.ibm.com . Just look for the Firewall 400
book (sorry, don't have the number handy).

The performance hit? I don't think there would be much of one since the
IPCS would probably handle most of the processing. I could be wrong,
though.
