There used to be the *LIKE  DEFN opcode in C specs though where one could
type:

   C          *LIKE       DEFN FIELDA      FIELDB      5

which would give FieldB all of the attributes of FieldA excepting in this
case override the length of FieldB to be 5 long.  I don't know if the
opcode is still valid.
