A batch job varies on the line, then uses DDM to transfer records from
the file.  QSYSOPR gets a message controller not contacted, and my batch
job hangs.  I can't monitor for the message in my CLP until someone
answers the message in QSYSOPR.


Could you do it the other way round?  Process the batch file as if the
called number will always be busy, and monitor for the error of   _not_ 
being busy?
