I'm writing a lot of cgi-bin stuff for web pages. The input is a
standard-in forms variable from a web page. The user could put virually
anything into a field that is asking for a number. I wrote a sub-proc
to ignore all characters but '0'-'9', '.' and '-' and to put what's left
(and right of dec point :) into a 15/5 numeric and pass it back to cgi
pgm.

clear as mud?

regards,

rick
