We took a 236 thru the upgrade to 436 and despite IBM saying we'd
experience a degradation, we in fact realized an increase in speed...  I
mentioned this to IBM and they said they were glad we were one of the
lucky ones.  But I have heard of other instances like the one I
experienced.. where it sped the system up.
