Ever look for an OS/400 command to do something and couldn't find one ?
Every say "Why doesn't IBM have a command for that ?".
Well, Jim SLoan said the same thing, then sat down and wrote a TON of
really useful stuff that wan't in the operating system. Occasionally
you would see Jim remove things from TAATOOL's because his ideas were so
good that they DID become part of future OS/400 releases.
Up to an including V3R1 all the TAATOOL source was included as an (Optionally
installed - no charge) piece of OS/400. After V3R1 all the TAATOOL's were
removed from QUSRTOOL as Jim purchased the rights to them from IBM and
now sells them separately. QUSRTOOL does still exist, but there is less
stuff in there - although some neat things are there like a sample source
program (RPG or C) to print big block spool page separators.
Al/Jim - credit my account with another $20 - we can settle up at COMMON
in New Orleans. ;-)
Disclaimer for those who don't get it - the above is a JOKE !
You don't think I'd sell my objectivity for a mere $20 do you ?
(Now - if it were $50 .......)
