Jeffrey,

In a message dated 97-10-02 12:30:30 EDT, you write:

I like that, especially if TECH colleges are included! I also think that an
organization that provides something as audaciously titled as "COMMON
University" should offer, well, SCHOLARSHIPS! Heck, if it were fully tax
deductible, I'd be more than glad to offer _MY_ attendance fee to someone
else for those conferences that I cannot attend due to scheduling conflicts.
There are also a few folks that I would have liked to send in my stead from
client sites, but the client didn't have the money :-(.

Just what _IS_ up with this, anyhow? I would have thought MIDRANGE-L to be a
primo site for donation, but the suggested donation never happened. IBM'ers
spend enough time on this site to pay for another system (not that I'd trade
their input for a machine, mind you), but David still has to limp along on a
<GASP!> UNIX system.

IBM _used_ to donate a lot of equipment, and pay for its installation. Heck,
I did a "Quick Start" for the local United Way 4 years ago. IBM donated the
equipment, and paid my Agent Firm employer for my time. Where did this
generosity go?

Cheers,
