Have you looked at Help Systems' "Robot/Save" product?  I'm not 100% 
sure, but I think they support some kind of PC backup.

It sure can't hurt to check out the product... they offer 30 day free
trials and good tech support.

Back when I was working in an operational capacity, I helped them 
debug the 3570 code. :)

btw: I was less than impressed with the 3570 tape drive.  I found it
jammed far to often to make a reliable unattended backup system.  
Plus the fact that the drive can't read the external labels on the
tapes... that makes initing tapes a pain in the <censored>.
