Do you mean *STMF? This stands for stream file and is a kind of object
found in the non-QSYS.LIB file systems, part of the so-called Integrated
File System.

Stream files are PC/UNIX-type files, like Word documents, *.txt files, etc.

There's a manual called _Integrated File System Introduction_ that's really
helpful.
