  • Subject: TN5250 Connections during backups
  • From: "Scott S. Robertson" <srobertson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I have just noticed that if a TN5250 session is left active and signed on, it
is not affected by the system value QINACTITV and remains active during our
scheduled backup. Here is my dilemma:

1) Controlling subsystem is QBASE (not by choice, just inherited that way), so
ending QINTER prior to backup is not an option.
2) I don't want to end the TELNET server during backup in case I need to access
the system remotely.
3) I can't rely on the users to *always* sign off.

Could it be as simple as ending the TELNET server, delaying the job for ??
seconds, and restarting the TELNET server in a CL prior to backups? Any other
(or better) ideas?

I'm using Wall Data's Rumba 95/NT IP client for the TN5250 sessions, and
running V3R1 on the AS/400.
