That is true, but either is 99.9% of the current EDI traffic over private
VANs. Nobody gets too concerned about that.  We are acting as an AS400
gateway for some of our clients that wish to send a file from AS400 to the
internet.  Pretty simple, they either send it to us SNA or BSC and we
forward it along.  Encryption IS an issue, and there are products out there
to solve that issue.  Premenos has it's Templar product (I am a Premenos
VAR), but it is basically a proprietary software standard and each side of
the conversation needs a copy.  Thats all well and good until you have to
support multiple proprietary security standards to pass "standard" EDI
transactions.  You know the nice thing about standards.... there are SO many
to choose from!
