The only ThinkPad I've connected via Twinax was a model 760L (760EL ?).
Using CA/400 for Win 3.1 V3R1M1 and I had a problem because we have Twinax
baluns, hub & twisted pair wiring. The setting of CheckAddr=No in the
PCSTDLC.DAT file fixed the problem with twisted pair.
(By the way, it has an IBM PCMCIA 5250 adapter. IBM just came out with a
newer 5250 Express adapter but ovbiously haven't tried it yet).
Anyway, we upgraded this ThinkPad to Windows95 and CA/400 for Win95 V3R1M2
with the new 32bit Twinax support. Could not get the ba***ard to work
with the UTP wiring (have sent a few traces to IBM and they are currently
looking at the problem) - BUT the connection does work flawlessly if you
have the real twinax cable (you know, the stuff that you can use to moor an
Oil Tanker with if necessary). A salesman took the ThinkPad to IBM Jamaica
for a week of demos and had no problem with real twinax cabling.
Have also looked into the Affinity Systems Plug 'N Play 5250 adapter but
have not yet tested one.
...Neil
(PS - we also couldn't get an Aptiva connected via either twinax or SDLC
adapters, but it worked OK with a PCI Ethernet card running both AnyNet
under Win 3.1 and TCP/IP under Win95.
