This should not be as necessary on a RISC box as it was on the CISC; however,
if you can afford the down time it would be nice to do!  We upgraded from a
320 to a 530 eight weeks ago, and are performing our first IPL this weekend.
 Look at your temporary address percentage through WRKSYSSTS to determine if
your IPL is really necessary.

You're trying to compare apples and oranges.  The AS/400 is excellent in
performing real-time applications, and the RISC is much better at performing
batch processes.  The mainframe is still better at manipulating terabytes of
information in a batch mode...
